For all you Jazz Lovers

April 29, 2010

The 5th Gulf Jazz Festival is taking place in Kuwait this weekend at the Rassison BLU hotel.
I attended the first show last night and had an amazing time! The company, the weather, and the performers were great!

Yesterday’s band were the Nidia Ortiz band featuring Andrzej Olenjniczak.
Nidia Ortiz whose voice is indescribable, is a latin/jazz singer. I am definitely going to search for her albums to hear more of her stuff. When we spoke to her after the show, she told us she has many electronic music which she was concerned we would not like, but I am curious to hear those too.

Andrzej Olenjniczak is a saxophonist who was also very impressive. It feels so good to be able to go out after a long hard week at work, and just chill to the sound of good music.

Tonight’s performance will be by vocalist Victoria Tolstoy.  Andrzej Olenjniczak will also be accompanying her on the saxophone, she will also be accompanied by Vladislav Sendecki on the piano, Mattias Svenson on double bass, and Anders Kihlberg on the drums.

Tomorrow’s performance will be by Marcus Stockausen who plays the trumper, accompanied by Vladislav Sendecki on the piano, Mattias Svenson on double bass, and Anders Kihlberg on the drums.
